Q&A with Shlomi and Dean

How was the visit from your point of view?
Dean:   “It was an incredible experience, especially because it was my first time visiting Israel.

After learning about Israel through books and media over the years, being there in person felt like a significant moment. Despite the packed itinerary, consisting of just four days, time seemed to fly by quickly while feeling like an extended period.

We had the opportunity to explore the sacred sites in Jerusalem, witness the vibrant diversity of Jaffa, and admire the modernity and trendy atmosphere along Tel Aviv’s coastline. From encountering Roman ruins to connecting with clients, friends, and family, it was an unparalleled and truly remarkable experience.”

Shlomi:   “It was a truly fulfilling and captivating experience. Above all, reconnecting after a gap of over three years that we haven’t met allowed us to dive deep into our shared journey, exploring numerous aspects of Up2China’s future. We seized the opportunity to not only exchange thoughts and plans but also to travel around Israel and learn more about this diverse and fascinating country.”
How was it meeting your partner face-to-face after over three years?
Dean:   “I have to say that it’s remarkable how it feels as if we met only yesterday, but upon closer reflection, the journey of three years seems like a distant dream. Considering all that we’ve been through, the fact that we could reunite in Israel is a miracle.”

Shlomi:   “Meeting Dean after so many years was exciting, but everything felt almost the same overall.”
What you enjoyed the most?
Dean:   “Honestly, every day was great, but what really impresses me is how rich and diverse Israel is. Simply walking a short distance feels like traversing through multiple historical eras. It’s remarkable how so many differences are packed into such a small piece of land. This experience is truly one-of-a-kind and filled with inspiring wonders.”

Shlomi:   “I think our travel to Jerusalem was the most exciting part of the visit. We met a good friend who showed us the city, and the unique tour he took us through in the old city of Jerusalem was inspiring. “
Could you sum up the visit in one sentence?
Dean:   “Israel is a diverse country with conflicts and disputes. Tensions exist between countries, ethnic groups, and even within ethnic groups. It’s not a harmonious place but rather a reflection of the conflicts in the world. We need to remember our original values and dreams to resolve these conflicts. We should strive for a world where we respect and understand each other, facing challenges with reason and kindness.”

Shlomi:   “The visit was fun and fulfilling, and even though we speak daily, we truly needed this face-to-face meeting.”
